ARKANSAS DEPT. OF HIGHER EDUCATION (ADHE) SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS

Beginning OCTOBER 1, high school seniors, college students who do not already receive funding from the programs below, and adults desiring to return to school should access the Arkansas Department of Higher Education Website for the scholarships offered by the state of Arkansas. Funds are awarded to eligible students and must be used towards tuition and fees for eligible Arkansas institutions.
One application (the YOUniversal application) is completed to determine eligibility for all below awards.
ADHE State Scholarships:

Academic Challenge [Lottery] Scholarship
(students must earn a 19 on the ACT or ACT equivalent) apply by June 1st
4-year school awards:

Governor's Distinguished Scholars Program
“The Governor’s Distinguished Scholarship is the most academically rigorous scholarship program offered for those graduating seniors scoring either 32 on the ACT or 1410 on the SAT, and a 3.50 academic grade point average. Those who are named National Merit Finalists or National Achievement Scholars may qualify without meeting the GPA requirement, but must still meet the ACT/SAT requirement. The scholarship pays tuition, mandatory fees, room and board up to $10,000 per year.” MUST APPLY BY FEBRUARY 1st!

Higher Education Opportunities (GO!) Grant
Up to $1,000 for students showing financial need. Apply by June 1st.

Law Enforcement Officers' Dependents Scholarships
Undergraduates who are dependent children or spouses of persons killed or permanently disabled in the line of duty as a law enforcement officer, firefighter, forester, correctional officer, Community Punishment Department or Transportation Department employee. Award pays in-state tuition, mandatory fees, and on-campus room charges.

Military Dependents Scholarships
Students who are dependent children or spouses of persons who were killed or missing in action, who were prisoners of war or permanently and totally disabled through military service. Award pays in-state tuition, mandatory fees, and on-campus room charges at eligible Arkansas institutions.

State Teacher Education Program (STEP)
Eligible educators who are practicing in a geographic and/or subject shortage area of the state and have outstanding federal student loan debt. Award is $3,000-$4,000

The Workforce Improvement Grant
Students aged 24 and older who are considered non-traditional students returning to school. Award up to $2,000
