• The Buck Foundation will honor one graduating Senior from HHS with the Buck Pride of Heritage Scholarship. This scholarship is $8,000 a year, totaling $32,000 over the course of 4 years. This is a competitive scholarship to honor an outstanding student who has been very involved in their school and the Rogers community throughout all four years of high school. 

    REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY:

    • ACT Score of 25-30
    • Minimum 3.5 GPA 
    • Demonstrate outstanding school & community involvement
    • Minimum of 50 hours of community volunteering/participation other than school and church
    • Participation in 3 school-sponsored clubs/organizations each year of high school   
    • At least one titled leadership position Senior year (STUCO representative, team captain, club VP, etc.)
    • Must attend a 4-year college or university
    • Must submit a Creative Project and signed Student Contract along with online application

     

    DEADLINE
    The deadline for the Buck Pride of Heritage Scholarship is October 21, 2020 at 2:00.
    Due at that time is the scholarship application (submitted online), other required documents (detailed below), signed Student Contract and Creative Project.

    BUCK PRIDE OF HERITAGE SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
    **IMPORTANT** Before you start the application, log into your RPS30 account and create a folder in your Google Drive for all of your Buck Scholarship documents. Name the folder like this: HHS FirstName LastName Buck Scholarship (ex: HHS Monica Gellar Buck Scholarship) and share it with the Buck Foundation at buckfoundationscholarships@gmail.com

    The application will be completed online through SmarterSelect. Once complete, it will be downloaded as a PDF and added to the Buck Scholarship folder in your Google Drive. Also into your Buck Scholarship folder, you will add your transcript, highest ACT score report, essay, COVID statement, and creative project (if digital) or picture of project (if not digital). Everything in your Google folder should be named like this: "HHS FirstName LastName Buck Application", "HHS FirstName LastName Transcript", etc.

    ESSAY
    Using Google Docs, write a 350-450 word essay on the following prompt. When finished, save it to your Buck Scholarship folder as "HHS FirstName LastName Essay". PROMPT: Discuss your plans once you graduate from college. As an adult, how do you hope to make a difference in people's lives or in the world around you?

    COVID STATEMENT
    ​Using Google Docs, write a short statement on your experience during the spring 2020 COVID shutdown. Did you find ways to continue in community service? How did you manage your time and emotional well being? What did you learn from the overall experience? When finished, save it to your Buck Scholarship folder as "HHS FirstName LastName COVID Statement"

    BUCK PRIDE OF HERITAGE STUDENT CONTRACT
    The Student Contract will be given to you by Mrs. Whitson, the HHS Scholarship Coordinator. It must be signed by the student and a parent if the student is under 18. It must be turned in to Mrs. Whitson by October 21 by 2:00. 

    BUCK PRIDE OF HERITAGE CREATIVE PROJECT
    In addition to the online application, student's must submit a creative project. This project is to represent your pride, memories and involvement in your hometown of Rogers, Arkansas. Past creative projects include: videos, photography books, essays, paintings and art projects. It must be turned in to Mrs. Whitson, or uploaded to your google drive folder, by October 21 at 2:00. If it is a digital project, you will upload it into your Buck Scholarship folder - if it is a physical project, you will take a picture of it and upload it to the folder, then turn in the project to Mrs. Whitson by the deadline. In this time of COVID and with the possibility of virtual school, it is highly recommended that you make your project digital this year - a powerpoint/Google slide presentation, website, etc., would be best in the event we are in virtual school by the deadline.
