District Course Review Committee

Thank you for your time and participation in the RPS Course Review Committee. The purpose of the district committee is to review new course proposals, modifications to existing courses, and deletion of grades 6-12 courses in both the high school and middle school course catalogs for the 2027-2028 school year. The following list provides examples of proposed course reviews to be presented for committee consideration. These approvals will then be recommended for final approval by the school board in November 2026.

New Course Approval Request

  • Completed for new courses that have not previously been offered in grades 6-12, including new courses that are required by the Arkansas Department of Career Education (ACE) and/or the ADE for the Smart Core/Core Curriculum and graduation
  • Information presented includes course title, course number, standards, assessments, and curriculum

Existing Course Change Request

  • Completed for existing courses for which changes will be made in the course catalog, including but not limited to the following:
    • Course Title and/or Course Number
    • Credit(s) and Grade Level(s)
    • Description and Prerequisite requirements

  • Completed for current courses that will be deleted and removed from the subsequent year’s course catalog

Begins in Buildings

  1. Teachers submit proposals to their building principal
  2. Building principals, leadership, and teachers should all review submissions; this ensures input from all stakeholders
  3. Building principals will collect building review session sign-in sheets for attendance
  4. Proposals must have the principal's signature and building review session information
  5. Email Shared links to Jayna Moffitt by Friday, Sept. 11, 2026

Next Steps for District Course Review Committee Consideration

All course requests forms must be submitted electronically. Incomplete course requests will be returned for revision to ensure the request is complete before presentation to the review committee.

 

  • Share proposals with principal’s signatures via email to Jayna Moffitt jayna.moffitt@rpsar.net  (please include your building review process information)
  • Proposals accepted through Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, allowing time to prepare for committee review

Please Note: The Teaching & Learning team or the building principal will present proposals to the District Course Review Committee. Only members of the District Course Review Committee will be allowed to vote.

The Course Review Committee will meet from 4:15-5:30 p.m. in the PLC Main Room or virtually if necessary. The following dates have been scheduled for the District Course Review Committee meetings:

  • Wednesday, Oct. 21 - Committee receives proposal details via email.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 4 - Committee Meeting
  • Board presentation of proposals will be Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2026.
