RPS Schools Earn $259K in Awards, Garfield Named School on the Move

ROGERS -- The Arkansas School Recognition Program has rewarded six schools in the Rogers School District with nine financial awards totaling $259,000 for high student performance or high student growth.

Pursuant to Ark. Code Ann. §6-15-2107, the Arkansas School Recognition Program was created to provide financial awards to public schools that experience high student performance, student academic growth, and for secondary schools, high graduation rate. 

Ark. Code Ann. §6-15-2107 authorizes rewards in an amount up to $100 per student who attends a public school or public charter school in the top 5% of all Arkansas public schools in student performance or student academic growth, which includes high school graduation rates for secondary schools under criteria set forth by rule of the State Board of Education. 

Up to $50 per student enrolled is awarded to public schools or public charter schools between the top 5% and the next 5% (schools in the top 6-10%) of all public schools in Arkansas in student performance or student academic growth, which includes high school graduation rates for secondary schools under criteria set forth by rule of the State Board of Education.

The following Rogers schools were recognized with Top 5% Performance awards:

  • Bellview Elementary, $39,500
  • Eastside Elementary, $45,900
  • Garfield Elementary, $10,300
  • Janie Darr Elementary, $41,600

The following Rogers schools were recognized with Top 6-10% Performance awards:

  • Fairview Elementary, $29,500
  • Frank Tillery Elementary, $24,750

The following Rogers schools were recognized with Top 6-10% Growth awards:

  • Bellview Elementary, $19,750
  • Eastside Elementary, $22,950
  • Frank Tillery Elementary, $24,750

Garfield Elementary was recognized as a 2023 School on the Move Toward Excellence. They were one of 13 elementary schools in the state to improve their weighted achievement by 10 or more points (19.08, the second largest increase among Arkansas elementary schools). Garfield Elementary also increased its Letter Grade in 2023 compared to 2022 to an A from a B and raised its overall ESSA School Index Score by 6.55 points.
