RPS Appoints New Assistant Principals at Crossroads and Jones

Rogers Public Schools has elevated Christhian Saavedra to the role of assistant principal at Crossroads Learning Center, and Crystal Elwin has been named assistant principal at Russell D. Jones Elementary School. Both educators bring extensive experience in student support, instructional leadership and school improvement and will begin serving in their new roles for the 2026-27 school year.
Prior to joining Crossroads in 2024, Saavedra served as Student Success Coordinator at Rogers Heritage High School, where he worked closely with students and families to improve graduation outcomes and connect them with community resources and support services. He previously served as a Spanish teacher and head soccer coach at Rogers Heritage High School and as a Spanish teacher at Birch Kirksey Middle School.
A graduate of Rogers Public Schools, Saavedra completed the district’s Aspiring Leadership Academy and has been recognized for his leadership and commitment to student success throughout his career. While assuming his new administrative responsibilities at Crossroads Learning Center, he will continue to serve as head boys soccer coach at Rogers Heritage High School, where he recently led the program to its first state title.
Crystal Elwin joins Russell D. Jones Elementary School as assistant principal after serving as an instructional facilitator in Springdale Public Schools since 2022. In that role, she has supported teachers through instructional coaching, professional learning and data analysis while helping strengthen Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Response to Intervention (RTI) processes to improve student outcomes.
Prior to becoming an instructional facilitator, Elwin served as an Academic Support Interventionist at George Elementary School. Her classroom experience spans more than a decade, including teaching positions in Little Elm ISD in Texas, Bentonville Public Schools and Springdale Public Schools. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a commitment to fostering positive learning environments, supporting student achievement and building strong partnerships with families and staff.
Elwin earned a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education and a master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Arkansas Tech University. She also holds an Educational Leadership Specialist degree from Arkansas State University and completed the Springdale Public Schools Aspiring Administrators Program.
